Alicia is the wife of alleged Colombo gangster Edward “The Tall Guy” Garofalo (whose father was allegedly killed by Sammy “The Bull” Gravano).
Alicia’s husband Edward Garofalo is a tough cookie. He comes from a family filled with criminals. His father Eddie Garafola aka Cousin Eddie was arrested in 1985 for tax evasion, racketeering, stock fraud and money laundering. Eddie owned a construction company. He was part of the Gambino crime family. They were one of the five families that coined the term Mafia in the 1950′s and 1960′s. It was lead by Carlo Gambino until 1976. The mafia was involved with gambling, loansharking, extortion, money laundering, prostitution, fraud, hijacking, pier thefts, and fencing. They had connections to criminal organizations in Cuba. The mafia was also associated with the legendary John Gotti who was responsible for killing one of the former members to become the head of the organized criminal family.
Edward had been involved in crime since he was a teenager. He followed his father’s footsteps which lead him to a multitude of trouble. His father was killed by Sammy The Bull Gravano who was his father’s brother in law. Edward’s father Eddie had married Salvatore (Sammy’s sister). In the late 90′s John Gotti went to Edward Garofalo to plot a hit against Sammy. Edward had made several trips to Arizona where Sammy lived to set up the hit. Edward was indicted on murder charges and plead guilty to murdering his cousin.
What’s even crazier is that Karen Gravano is the daughter of Sammy the Bull who allegedly killed his father in 1990 which is why she isn’t on the show this season! Edward will not be on the show but we will be able to hear his voice as he speaks to his wife on the phone!
Alicia also spent some time in jail and was arrested the same time her husband was. She was given a smaller sentence about 10 years ago in 2004.
